Excellence in Education (EIE) General Grant Information
What type of projects are encouraged?
Projects or activities that support innovative and creative ideas that inspire both students and faculty to achieve educational excellence and/or provide ways to strengthen and support families (e.g. parenting classes) so that education becomes an attainable shared endeavor.
What qualifications are required to apply for grants from the Iowa-Grant Eductional Foundation (IGEF)?
Only those persons directly connected to the Iowa-Grant School District may apply for grants. The IGEF accepts only those projects for consideration that are not within the scope of the district or county responsibility and that are not typically funded by tax dollars.
Those eligible to apply include:
1) Any Iowa-Grant staff member.
2) Any Iowa-Grant student with the sponsorship of an appropriate Iowa-Grant staff member (preferable 3 or more students).
3) Any business, parent group or community based organization in collaboration with an Iowa-Grant staff member.
Grants Due October 1st and March 1st
(The Board may consider other requests throughout the year.)
2022 - The Merlin, Lorraine, Bruce & Loralee Fritsch Excellence in Education Endowment Fund
This fund was created in honor of Lorraine Fritsch and her son, Bruce Fritsch, and in memory of Lorraine's husband, Merlyn Fritsch, and Bruce's wife, Loralee Fritsch, who was a Home Economics teacher at the Iowa-Grant High School from 1976-2007. Grants from the fund provide support for projects and programs that are not funded with taxpayer support.
2020 - The Rewey Alumni Association Excellence in Education Endowment Fund
This fund was established by The Rewey Alumni Association as a way to continue their contribution to the district once they made the decision to dissolve their official organization. Grants from this fund will provide support for projects and
programs that teachers create to enhance the educational opportunities for Iowa-Grant students.
2019 - The Marge & Clyde Wagner Excellence in Education Endowment Fund
We are happy to announce that The Marge & Clyde Wagner Excellence in Education Endowment Fund has been established in 2019 to honor Marge's years as an elementary teacher in the Iowa-Grant School District as well Clyde's years as a farmer near Livingston. Seven of the Wagner children graduated from Iowa-Grant: Gary, Cheryl, Janel, Mary Jo, Debra, Judy and Jim. The oldest child, David, was part of the last class to graduate from Livingston High School.
To honor both Marge's teaching and Clyde's work with agriculture, this endowment provides grants for agriculture related projects and programs for PK through 12, that are suggested by teachers, support staff and/or administrators for support of innovative and creative educational opportunities implemented with students in the classroom.

The Excellence in Education grant program is to fund projects, activities, and materials that will bring distinction to the school. These grant dollars are not to supplant tax dollars but are offered to supplement what is not possible through general tax support. The first grant was presented in 2002. Since that time and through the spring of 2024, 57 projects have received over $42,179 in funding.
The application deadlines remain the same: October 1 and March 1.
NOTE: Announcements of grant awards occur approximately 6 to 8 weeks
after the application deadline.
Plan appropriately – apply for Fall projects by March 1 and Spring projects by October 1.

There are a few items you should have ‘in hand’ prior to beginning the application. These include:
- Iowa-Grant's Federal ID number.
- Detailed project budget.
- Full description of the project including identification of the problem or need that the project addreses, the project goals, the audience served, the geographical location served, and other sources of support.
- How you plan to publicly acknowledge IGEF should you receive a grant award?

PRINT OFF A COPY AND PERSONALLY GIVE TO THE SUPERINTENDENT FOR APPROVAL TO PROCEED.
With approval then you would submit the application as prompted on the CFSW website.

History of Grant Awards
IGEF presented its first grant in 2002. To date, 60 grants totaling over $39,355 have been awarded in support of projects proposed for the benefit of IG students and their school. There is incredible breadth in these grants, which have ranged from a Shakespearean experience for high schoolers; a presentation stage in a 6th grade classroom; support for students to attend Trees for Tomorrow; Reading is Fundamental Family Night; and engagement of the Missoula Children's Theater for a summer experience for elementary and middle level students, to name just a few.
