
Jim Kohlenberg Scholarship
James "Jim" Kohlenberg was a resident of Livingston since 1966. He was married to Janet for over 50 years prior to her passing in December 2017. He was the father to three children (Jill Jentz, Jean O'Neill and John Kohlenberg), grandpa of 7 and great grandpa of 1.
He taught math at I-G for 9 years and coached football, wrestling and track. He was elected as the President of the State School Board Association.
Jim started Jim's Building Center in 1979 (renovated the old Wagner Hardware store in Livingston). As owner of the building he helped start other businesses such as a cafe and second hand store. He then sold the building to the current business K Salon.
He bought and developed Kohlenberg Heights on the south side of town. Many of the houses were constructed by Jim's Building Center. In this development are two streets named after his daughters, Jill and Jean. Several other projects have been built and constructed by Jim's Building Center including the most recent addition to Collision Specialists.
Jim was a member of Wisconsin Retail Lumber Association, Rural Partners and Wisconsin Frame Builders Association. He served for 35 years on the Livingston Clifton Fire Department and also on the Fire Board. He was Village Assessor for numerous years and served on the village board. He was a member tof the Livingston Businessmen and was an intricate part of planning the annual festival.
